The latest project in the Monstrous Makings series has begun. This is going to be the first full sculpt out of wax. I was planning on doing a Bull Taurus/Lamassu sculpt but I felt that was pushing my limits a bit too quick. I set up the armature on Saturday night and started sculpting it on Sunday, roughing up the general shape to this stage. Last night I worked on the definition in the legs and feet, not a lot of difference overall but the legs look much better.

Having said yesterday I was going to paint the resin head I thought I'd better get to it. so here it is
Having finished sculpting the head over Christmas I took it into work and our Creative Director helped my smooth out some of the rough edges before pouring a mould on it. 2 days later and I get to pour both a ceramic resin version to paint and a polyurethane version to add to the rest of the sculpt. Keep a look out for the painted head as I try out the colour scheme.
A little update on the Zoat, I completed the teeth last night and boy do i wish there was a save button when sculpting. After chatting to a few guys at work I've worked out that it will probably be better to sculpt the head of the Zoat out of wax instead of Green Stuff. This means I can spend as long as I want sculpting it and it wont cure so I can be as picky as I want. I does however mean that I need to make a mould of the sculpt before I can attach it to the model, oh well. So here are a few pics of the progress so far. I've managed to get the second hand and fourth foot done. Both took at least 3 attempts each as I couldn't get the scale right, but finally i got them about right. I still need to fix the wrist on the right hand, it came out a bit thick when I sculpted the hand as I later worked out the base wrist was thicker on that side. I've shaved it down but not gotten around to re-sculpting it.
Next up is plucking up the courage to start the face, eeek!!!! This project was started over a year ago in preparation for a Storm of Magic game but was then sidelined through lack of use. But now its back and i've got another game for it this weekend. So here is my Zoat. The resent additions are the feet and left hand (minus thumb). More work is planned tonight.

ChrisI've been into wargaming since I was 8 and this is an attempt to document my hobby progress. It may well just prove my 'ooh shiny' sydrome. We'll just have to wait and see. Archives
